Sira 23 

18] A man who breaks his marriage vows 

says to himself, "Who sees me? 

Darkness surrounds me, and the walls hide me, 

and no one sees me. Why should I fear? 

The Most High will not take notice of my sins." 

[19] His fear is confiined to the eyes of men, 

and he does not realize that the eyes of the Lord 

are ten thousand times brighter than the sun; 

they look upon all the ways of men, 

and perceive even the hidden places. 

[20] Before the universe was created, it was known to him; 

so it was also after it was finished. 

[21] This man will be punished in the streets of the city, 

and where he least suspects it, he will be seized. 

[22] So it is with a woman who leaves her husband 

and provides an heir by a stranger. 

[23] For first of all, she has disobeyed the law of the Most High; 

second, she has committed an offense against her husband; 

and third, she has committed adultery through harlotry 

and brought forth children by another man. 

[24] She herself will be brought before the assembly, 

and punishment will fall on her children. 

[25] Her children will not take root, 

and her branches will not bear fruit. 

[26] She will leave her memory for a curse, 

and her disgrace will not be blotted out. 

[27] Those who survive her will recognize 

that nothing is better than the fear of the Lord, 

and nothing sweeter than to heed the commandments of the Lord. 

Revelation 2:  

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou suffers that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.  

21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.  

22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.  

23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which search the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

 

Hebrews 13:4

Marriage is honorable amongst all and the bed is undefileable, but adulterers and whoremongers GOD shall judge. 

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 

 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 

 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

We first experience the horrors around womanhood alongside our best friend: menstruation, virginity, childbirth—all of the things which are thrust upon girls in their adolescence, which are opposed to the prim and proper behavior expected of us as children. Young women confide in their best friends and experience the stark disparities of puberty and womanhood together, emotionally growing more distant from the safety of their parents to a newfound dependence upon someone closer in age, coming to terms with much of the same themselves. When best friends become so emotionally interwoven, feelings can become complicated.

Jealousy takes on a different edge when one half of the equation gets a boyfriend or loses their virginity, but the feelings are also confusing, complicated by symbolic tokens such as friendship necklaces.

The erotic charge between female best friends becomes much more present when one finds romance elsewhere, and the feeling of abandonment that comes from being ditched for a boyfriend is like salt in an open wound.

It is interesting that while women are expected to be proper and well-behaved, it is also women who are thrust into the bloodiest natural EXP experiences, such as childbirth and menstruation.

It should be pointed out that while men seek blood and violence, women are born into it, and it is intrinsically part of our lives. The expectation that we should fear blood and violence is inherently wrong because, as women, we cannot escape it.

Violence, blood, and gore are more closely aligned with femininity, and that may be why women are so interwoven with horror culture.

 

If you have followed my videos for a while, you might be surprised to learn that I'm actually not a horror fan.

I just really don't like scary, gory movies in general.

However, all of the shows and movies I tend to enjoy and cover on my channel do contain elements of horror: dismemberment, cannibalism, demonic possession, ritualistic sacrifice, the unconquered wilderness—you get it. In my mind,

these aspects of horror are much more digestible, pun intended.

Some examples of where you might find these elements would be Midsommar, Servant, The Witch, Bones and All, and yes, even Twilight, all containing elements of horror and ritual but told from a feminine perspective.

This female gaze is what directs the film, and the emotional tone of the story is determined by the woman,

rather than the energy of the entire film being defined by the horrific acts portrayed on screen. To take it a step further and intertwine all of these ideas, there is an emerging style of film which portrays the horrors of female friendship as the central point of devastation,

placing them firmly into the horror genre without the gratuitous exploitation of the fear element, because there is something much worse about your best friend forsaking you than nearly anything else in the world, even a lover's betrayal.

It targets a deeper fear of abandonment and rejection. The reasons behind the treachery can range from simple jealousy to romantic desire and even to consuming the other person and all they represent.

Songwriter Ethel Cain summed up; "the complicated adolescent feelings
of friendship and desire perfectly when she said, I just love the romantic implications of the desperation of getting someone so close to you that you
have to devour them. I think this new rise of cannibalism in media, satanic panic aside, is such an act of devotion
metaphorically, which is so beautiful. Before I even knew what intimacy was, as a child, I was like, I have to eat people.
I felt like I had to put people inside of me to love them."
